How do I set up my file with a custom cutline?
Upload your design and describe the cutline in a comment, or draw it yourself on a separate layer. Keep 2 mm between the cutline and important details, and add 2 mm bleed outside it.
Setting up a file with a custom cutline
The cutline is the path the machine follows when it cuts your sticker. You can let us create it, or set it up yourself.
Option 1: Let us create the cutline
Upload your complete design and describe in a comment how you want it cut. Our graphics team reviews the file and sets up the cutline before printing. This works with any design program.
Option 2: Draw the cutline yourself
-
Adobe Illustrator: Draw the cutline as a path on a separate layer and give it a spot colour named "die cut" with the values CMYK 0, 100, 0, 0.
-
Photoshop or other programs with layers: Put the cutline on its own layer.
-
Leave a comment when you order saying that the file has a custom cutline, so we don't miss it.
Our guide on how to make your own cutlines goes through it step by step.
Margins and bleed
-
Keep at least 2 mm between the cutline and any text or important details.
-
Extend your artwork 2 mm past the cutline. This is called bleed and prevents white edges after cutting.
