Which sample pack should you order first?

Three sample packs. Three very different vibes. One shows off our sticker products, one is all about materials and one is made for labels. So which one do you actually need first? Good question, and the answer pretty much depends on what you're still unsure about.

Luckily, we've done the thinking for you. Here's how to pick the right pack, plus a few tips for when your samples land on your doorstep.

TL;DR:

Which sample pack should I order first?
The one that answers your biggest question. Not sure what kind of sticker you need? Go product. Know the format but not the material? Go materials. Making labels for your packaging? Go labels.

What's inside a sticker sample pack?
Real, printed samples you can actually touch. Sticker formats in the product pack, and materials, laminates and CMYK colour charts in the materials pack.

Is a sample pack worth it before a bigger order?
Absolutely. If you're torn between options, it's a budget-friendly way to skip the costly mistakes.

So... which one is for you?

Short answer? The one that answers the question a screen can't. Each pack is built around its own decision, so start by figuring out which one you're stuck on:

  • Which kind of sticker? The product sample pack shows you different sticker formats side by side.

  • Which material or finish? The materials sample pack lets you compare materials and laminates.

  • Which label for my packaging? The label sample pack covers all our label materials.

The product pack (a little bit of everything)

Still not sure what kind of sticker you need? Then this one's for you. The product sample pack is a mix of our most popular sticker types, so you can finally feel the difference between a die-cut, a kiss-cut and a through-cut. (If those three still sound like the same thing, no judgment. That's exactly what the pack is for.)

Inside, you'll also find a sticker sheet, a hang tag sticker, a business card sticker, floor, wall and Heavy Duty stickers, a transfer sticker and a few material samples in holographic, mirror and glitter. And the pack itself? A custom sticker pack. Sneaky, right? Our guide to the Product Sample Pack goes through every single product.

Materials pack vs label pack

It's easy to mix these two up, and we get why! Both are all about materials, but they're made for different purposes. Here's how to tell them apart.

Materials sample pack

Calling all designers! The materials sample pack is made for stickers and has die-cut samples in vinyl, transparent, holographic, glitter, mirror, brushed aluminium, Kraft paper, Pixie Dust, prismatic, epoxy dome, Heavy Duty and removable.

The best part? Vinyl, transparent, holographic and mirror come in both glossy and matte, so you can finally settle that debate. There are CMYK colour charts on several of the materials too. Want the full walkthrough? Check out our guide to the Material Sample Pack.

Label sample pack

Making labels for your products? Then this is your pack. The label sample pack has all four of our label materials: White vinyl, Clear and Metallic, each with both glossy and matte laminate, plus an uncoated Kraft paper label.

Bright white, see-through or a little shiny? Now you can actually picture it on your product. And that natural Kraft paper texture? Let's just say you kind of have to feel it to get it. Our label material guide explains what each material is good at.

So, you found a favourite?

Safe to say, there's always that one sample that steals the show. Once you've found yours, here's how to make the most of it:

  • Read up on it. Head over to our sample pack info page and click the sample you loved the most. That's where you'll find more about that material.

  • Match your colours. Hold your favourite up to the CMYK colour chart, find the swatch closest to your colour and note its CMYK values. Then adjust your design file, and your colours come out more accurate in print.

  • Stick it where it'll live. Laptop, water bottle, packaging... put it where the real thing is going and see how it looks in real life.

  • Settle the finish. Torn between glossy and matte? Hold both versions next to each other. Chances are, the decision pretty much makes itself.

Ready, set, sample!

So, to sum it up: go product if you're still figuring out what kind of sticker to make, materials if you're stuck between materials and laminates, and labels if your design is going on packaging. Making both stickers and labels for your brand? Then grab two. Easy.

There's no wrong place to start, really. Pick the thing you're most unsure about, get the samples in your hands, and the rest of your order gets a whole lot easier to plan. So what are you waiting for?
